Fundraising for the Kenya Programme in the US

Feminenza US held a Kenya Project Fundraiser in New York City on Sunday November 13th. The event took place from one to five in the evening. There were folks selling jewelry, coasters, note cards, mosaics, candle holders, T-shirts, crocheted scarves, baby slings and enchiladas! Members of Feminenza, and "friends" spread the word via emails and posters for a month leading up to the event. On the day of the event, people were out on nearby street corners passing out flyers and announcing to the streets, "Jewelry and crafts for the Kenya Project".

The efforts paid off as many people stopped, made donations and bought items. Towards the end of the day, a local dance troupe consisting of three ladies gave a wonderful performance. As the day was winding down, people were still coming in, friends still talking and the musicians took to the piano and good ole fashioned sing-a-long started.

In the words of the organisers: "We ended the day with $900, big smiles on all our faces and ready to collapse!"
