Asian Earthquake and Tsunamis Appeals

Feminenza representatives visited Tamil Nadu in 2005 and saw the magnificent work at Auroville first hand. Following the earthquake and tsunami over Christmas 2005, our friends were soon busy with the task of sheltering and feeding hundreds of homeless from the adjacent shoreline villages as well as rebuilding their own devastated beach communities.

©Feminenza 2005We were of course relieved to hear that our friends were well following the disaster and they continue to work tirelessly to rebuild and provide families with much needed support. You can help too by sending your donations direct to the Flood Relief fund.

Feminenza raised £285.00 (sterling) for the Auroville Fund from the proceeds of a talk given by Mary Noble and we hope this small donation helps with all the many people that are being helped and who have lost so much in the Tsunami.

Auroville Flood Appeal

The Tsunami Relief Team worked in 19 villages, caring for 10,950 people from 6395 families; of these, 2,190 lost their houses. Following the emergency relief work the concentration has moved towards the transition to rehabilitation, by reassessing needs, creating strategies and plans and writing up projects to help the affected people rebuild their lives and livelihoods.

You may like to visit the Auroville website to read more about the work and current activities at Auroville.
